6 simple tips to enjoy your social life AND stay on track
If you are attending the party at the home of someone you know, contact them ahead of time for the menu and let them know your goal is to “stay on track” while at the party. Most people will cooperate and even encourage your efforts!
If you are going to a cocktail party serving hors d’ouevres, eatyour regular meal right before going so you won’t be as tempted.
If it’s a potluck event, bring a dish you can eat and choose that for your meal. For example, a grilled chicken and veggie salad with a separate container for your dressing.
Try your best to avoid alcohol. Alcohol is loaded with empty calories and has a tendency to increase your appetite and lower your resolve. Instead, bring a club soda with a twist of lime to give the appearance of a cocktail!
For desert, go for thefresh fruit! If you cannot bring your own dish to pass, bring your favorite protein bar and use that for desert. It will satisfy your sweet craving and the protein will help you feel full.
If you mess up, don’t be hard on yourself – instead get right back on your program the next day and increase your water intake to flush out extra sodium and put in some extra time exercising!
